About Size 40E Bras

A 40E is a 40 band with an E cup — a full cup. The band does most of the work (around 80% of your support), so if it rides up at the back or the straps dig in, it's the band to fix, not you.

Is 40E a large size?

The 40 band is roomy and E is 2 steps above a D, so 40E is a moderate full size, with the roomy band doing the support. A cup letter only means something next to its band, and the band carries most of the support.

How do I know my 40E fits right?

The 40 band should sit level and firm on the loosest hook — it does around 80% of the support. The E cup should hold you fully, with no spillage or gaping. If the band rides up or the straps dig in, the band's too loose or the cup too small. Book a fitting if you're unsure.

What is 40E equivalent to?

Its sister sizes — same cup volume, a different band — are 38F (snugger band, deeper cup) and 42DD (roomier band, shallower cup). If the 40 band feels tight, try 42DD; if it's loose, 38F.
