About Size 42D Bras

A 42D is a 42 band with a D cup — a fuller cup. The band does most of the work (around 80% of your support), so if it rides up at the back or the straps dig in, it's the band to fix, not you.

Is a 42D a big bra size?

The 42 band is roomy and D is the entry fuller cup, so 42D is a moderate full size, with the roomy band doing the support. A cup letter only means something next to its band, and the band carries most of the support.

What are the sister sizes for 42D?

Its sister sizes — same cup volume, a different band — are 40DD (snugger band, deeper cup) and 44C (roomier band, shallower cup). If the 42 band feels tight, try 44C; if it's loose, 40DD.

How should a 42D bra fit?

The 42 band should sit level and firm on the loosest hook — it does around 80% of the support. The D cup should hold you fully, with no spillage or gaping. If the band rides up or the straps dig in, the band's too loose or the cup too small. Book a fitting if you're unsure.
